Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Miguel Oliveira won an exciting Moto3 Dutch TT –the last to be held on a Saturday– with an excellent performance. The win was his second of the season, after a triumph at Mugello, and allows him to close the distance to the series leader by nine points.
Sixth on the grid at Assen, Oliveira took the lead of the race at the first corner, imposing a fast pace from the start that soon split the race. A group of seven riders led the way, with Brad Binder at the back of the group.
With continuous overtaking at the front, Oliveira had to defend the lead at all times and study his rivals ahead of the final and decisive lap. Determined to fight for victory, the Portuguese made a definitive pass in the final sector of the circuit, to take the chequered flag first at Assen.
In the overall standings, Miguel Oliveira remains in third place with 102 points, just 6 points off second.
The next round of the season will be held on the weekend of July 10th to 12th at Sachsenring: The German Grand Prix.

“I’m happy with my performance today, because I did not make too many mistakes and it was a pretty difficult race. To be honest, after the warmup I did not know if I could take the victory, having ridden behind Kent. But in the race I made a good start and I tried to believe in myself, concentrate and go forward. I followed a good strategy and I put myself in a good position to overtake the other riders. In the final braking move I tried to defend my position and I managed to win. It was fun, with a lot of overtaking, but it was very hard and the race felt quite long. I managed to maintain a good pace; it was difficult with the strong wind today, so at the end we had to be very focused. I’m really happy with this second win of the season, thank you to the team.”
